Riverside Bakery
A fictional website. Click the green button in the bottom right corner to open the chat.
Example 1: Minimal setup
One <script> tag is all you need. The widget adds a floating WhatsApp button.
A click opens a chat window that looks and feels like WhatsApp. When the visitor presses
“Send”, WhatsApp opens with the message already filled in.
<script src="https://whatsapp-widget.doebeling.dev/whatsapp-widget.js"
data-phone="+49 000 0000000"
data-name="Riverside Bakery"
data-status="Usually replies within an hour"
data-welcome="Hi there! 👋 How can we help you?"
defer></script>
Only data-phone is required. Use the international format with country code.
What happens with the data?
- The widget does not send anything to a server, sets no cookies and loads no external files.
- The message stays in the browser until the visitor presses “Send”.
- “Send” opens
https://wa.me/…?text=…. From this moment on, WhatsApp (Meta) processes the data.
The example uses the placeholder number +49 000 0000000. The small log in the bottom left
corner shows the WhatsApp link instead of opening it.
